Street Furniture • Recycle Bin for Belgian Railway Stations




Hoet&Hoet commissioned MAXIMALdesign to translate the new graphic identity for the Belgian Train station to an important piece of street furniture for “The Station”, specifically a recycle bin.
The National Railway Company of Belgium -NMBS/SNCB- installed during this year the special “see through” recycle bins in the train stations. The railways chose for this kind of bins to minimize security problems. read more

FEBIAC • Sneak Peek
FEBIAC is the Belgium federation for cars and two-wheelers, with more than 100 years of experience. MAXIMALdesign was commissioned to rethink the interior identity of the federation’s offices based in Brussels. Inspired by the concept of mobility and motion MAXIMALdesign created an environment that reinforces the FEBIAC brand and is a joy to work in.

Interieur 2010 • Discoveries
Being design enthusiasts, we visited this week the Design Biennale Interieur 2010, in Kortrijk, Belgium. The fair is a nice opportunity to enjoy the latest in furniture and lighting design. One of the booths that stood out was the one from DARK , a Belgium based lighting manufacturer known from there young and playful designs. One peculiar product caught our attention: the BB, a spotlight designed by Frank Janssens -see above for product shots-

Read in Wired Magazine • Design Under Constraints
Design Under Constraint: How Limits Boost Creativity
Here at the office we all love a good read. In the 17.03 edition of Wired Magazine appears an article by Scott Dadich, where he talks about design constraints, and how designers understand the power of limits. He writes that “Constraints offer an unparalleled opportunity for growth and innovation”.
Be sure to check out the examples and remember that the worse thing a designer can hear is an offhand “just do whatever you want.”

KHK Campus Turnhout • Sneak Peek
At the start of the 2010-2011 academic year, the Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen welcomed students and teachers to their new campus in Turnhout. KHK commissioned MAXIMALdesign to create an overall interior concept for this new site.
