POP-UP RESTAURANT, LOUNGE BAR & GARDEN

As from the early 20^th century the Military Hospital is a wide and green open space of more than 7 hectare located in the center of Antwerp. With the introduction of ‘t Groen Kwartier, the Military Hospital enters a new phase in its metamorphosis from a closed military domain into a green and public residential zone with parc-garden.

In collaboration with the City of Antwerp project developers Vanhaerents and Wilma are transforming this historical site into a car-free, unique residential area with 404 units consisting of a mix of trendy lofts, apartments, houses with gardens, small shops, offices and creative ateliers.

In order to launch the project and create awareness, Vanhaerents and Wilma project developers contacted MAXIMALdesign to create a temporary pop-up event – including a restaurant, lounge bar and outdoor garden – on the parade square and in the historical chapel of the former Military Hospital. During the next four months visitors can enjoy the exquisite gastronomical cuisine of chef Pete Lute and/or a variety of tapas, cocktails and drinks. There’ll be a lot of events including art expositions, live music, dejays, cinema and picnic on Sundays. ‘t Groen Kwartier will be the place to be in Antwerp this summer.
