About Brussels Airlines

The marriage between SN Brussels Airlines and Virgin Express has resulted in the birth of Brussels Airlines, a new generation of airline. The new product line-up of Brussels Airlines meets the real needs of a new generation of both business and low-cost travellers.

Runway lights effect

Brussels Airlines consulted MAXIMALdesign to create a special 3D ‘shining-effect’ for the logo on the tail and to help with the technical implementation of it. The objective was to create a differentiating image on the planes that refers to the lights of a runway.

The main technical issue was the large scale of the effect and the limitations of the production and painting process. No existing software could make the conversion from the giga-bitmap images to vectorized images, so we had to adapt the 'regular' software in order to meet the technical criteria and realize the design.
