Jori • MAXIMALdesign wins S.I.T. international design competition
Modular and multifunctional seating concept

By the end of 2007 JORI has organised a prestigious international design competition under the name of S.I.T. (Search for International Talent). The aim of the initiative was to discover trends, developments and talent.
From more than 200 registrations there were a total of 7 winners. The jury, consisting of an international cast of top designers and prominent figures from the design world, agreed that these 7 designs were all of equivalent quality with regard to creativity, innovation, technical feasibility, design and ergonomics. The prize money was divided equally among the winners.
Theme of the competition
For the design competition JORI was looking for a versatile seating concept that anticipates future living trends. Key words here are flexibility, mobility and multi-functionality.
JORI also specified the importance of intimate, snug seating and lying comfort combined with ‘home working’ (laptops). The designs also had to encompass a wide programme ranging from sofas, corner ensemble configurations, separate easy chairs in a variety of sizes and footstools in a range of dimensions to a chaise longue and matching coffee tables to complete the concept.
Sofa longue ‘Piano’
Our seating concept, the Sofa Longue ‘Piano’, is a modular and multifunctional seating concept that offers a multitude of new ways to sit, lie down, relax, lounge and work, whether you’re on your own or with the ones you love.
The key to this innovative concept lies in the axial and rotational movement of the backrests of the seating island combined with smart accessories (movable top and side table). This offers endless possibilities to create your own configuration or set-up of the sofa. The entire programme consists of a 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-seater, tabouret, side table and pouf.
The sofa longue programme offers market opportunities in both the residential and project market.
