KHK • Design of a College Campus
The Globe

The Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen is an expanding college in a shrinking world. The KHK with its 10 departments and 6.000 students has always been an impulse for regional development in the Kempen, a dynamic region in Flanders.
The ‘Teacher Education Department’ commissioned MAXIMALdesign to create an overall concept and experience for their new campus in Vorselaar. The Globe-concept symbolizes an ‘urban enclave’ in the rural environment of Vorselaar. As a metaphore, the Globe refers to the city as a melting pot of different cultures and reflects changes in the cultural, social and economic aspects of society. Colours, signalization and graphics are inspired by city maps and metro plans.
This challenging project included:
• concept design
• interior design
• furniture design
• signalization and graphic design
